A Letter from the Mayor
The Town of Kensington is a wonderful place to call home. We have a long tradition of volunteer participation, neighborhood involvement and community spirit. We have a vibrant and unique business and dining district and a well-known array of antique and furniture stores.
I was first elected as Mayor in June, 2006 and re-elected in June, 2008 and have thoroughly enjoyed working with our residents and neighbors in efforts to continuously improve the Town.
Speaking on behalf of the four elected Town Councilmembers, I welcome your involvement and participation in all the Town's meetings and special events and festivals held throughout the year.
Kensington has several committees that would benefit from resident input on revitalization, traffic and pedestrian safety issues, trees and landscaping, code revision, hospitality and more. Please feel free to come by Town Hall (a.k.a. The Armory), e-mail or call any staff member with concerns, suggestions and ideas. The office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Our Town Manager handles residents’ day-to-day concerns and is a knowledgeable resource to have questions answered. Everyone is welcome at the Town’s twice a month Council meetings held in the Town Hall.
There are several ways to stay informed about Kensington: 1) The Around Town Journal is sent to all residents and businesses at the beginning of each month and is available on our website; 2) our website, www.TOK.md.gov, is also a useful source to learn about the history of Kensington, as well as current building regulations, procedures, codes and events; and 3) the Town’s list serve, which residents may sign up for on the website.
I hope you find the information on this website helpful in getting to know Kensington.
Sincerely,
Peter Fosselman
Mayor
