The goals of the Code Enforcement Department are "to maintain enforcement responsiveness that reflects upon public needs and concerns regarding health and safety, and to provide uniform, effective and timely code enforcement services to the residents of the Town of Kensington." Responsibilities include responding to and investigating citizen complaints, enforcing municipal codes with respect to illegal signs, dumping, junk vehicles, property maintenance, parking violations, residential and commercial building permits, health and environmental regulations.
The Town is responsible for all public works activities and functions: special and regular collection and disposal of refuse, bulk debris and yard waste: maintenance and repair of Town streets and roadways, curbing, sidewalks, brush/leaf collection; removal of snow and ice; installation and maintenance of street and traffic signs, maintenance of Town green spaces: parks, landscaping, trees, and shrubs; oversight of recycling vendors in the collection of residential co-mingled recyclables.
Trash & Refuse Collections:
- Regular and Special Trash Debris Removal - Twice weekly on Mondays and Fridays, pickup begins 7:00 a.m.
- Brush/Yard Waste Removal - Bi-weekly on Mondays and Fridays, pickup begins 7:00 a.m.
- Recycling - Once weekly on Wednesdays, pickup begins 7:00 a.m.
