Salt River Lobster has served the Washington D.C. area since 1982. Mike McConnell, a genuine lobsterman from Boothbay, Maine, founded the company when a friend of his suggested that he bring some lobster down to NIH to sell to the Bethesda community. On that first trip, Mike brought down about a hundred pounds of lobster from the fresh, clean waters of Maine, in his old pickup truck and they were sold within an hour. In the two decades-plus since, Salt River Lobster has expanded it's Bethesda sales to include shrimp, fresh fish, and various other shellfish. When security concerns forced us to move off of NIH property, our friends at the Bethesda Community Store have been kind enough to give us a new home so we can keep bringing seafood to the area. In addition, the kind folks of Kensington have invited us to join their Farmer's Market every weekend.
Great Harvest Bread Co.
We love whole grains. They've been our forte for more than 30

years. The main reason? We think they make the most incredible tasting loaf of bread on the planet. Whole-wheat bread does not need a long list of ingredients. Five pure and simple ingredients are all it takes:whole-wheat flour, water, fresh yeast, salt, and something sweet (honey). In fact, we'd say bread is best when you keep it simple. It's even better when you use the highest quality ingredients you can find.

All Things Olive
At
All Things Olive, you can sample over two dozen fresh, award-winning
California extra virgin olive oils, savory citrus-flavored olive oils, and
delicious herb-infused olive oils. Perfect for your next salad, over
pizza—or just for dipping your favorite piece of crusty bread.
All Things Olive also offers an array of wonderful wine vinegars made in the
centuries-old "Orleans Method". Wine from California's Napa and Sonoma
Valleys is converted slowly over many months in white oak barrels to produce
full-bodied vinegars with a fruity aroma. And as the perfect complement,
you'll also find an array of very tasty tapenades—great as a dip for
crackers or bread.
